David Oppenheim Music Center of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting presents Edward Arthur Shure
“Great Art Knows No Boundaries”
A Performance and Discussion with Pianist, Conductor and Teacher, Edward Arthur Shure
Thursday, July 22nd at 7pm
This performance is free and open to the public.
April 10, 2010, marked the 100th Anniversary of the birth of world-renowned concert pianist and teacher, Leonard Shure. On Thursday, July 22, the Stella Adler Studio of Acting will present Leonard Shure's son, pianist, conductor and teacher, Edward Arthur Shure in a performance/discussion that honors two giants in the world of music and acting; his father (and teacher), Leonard Shure and his great aunt, Stella Adler.
Both Shure and Adler had tremendous love and admiration for the other's work, which was rooted in the same premise that great art, in any form, is infinite. The learning process demanded every ounce of their being and, no matter how many times the two may have studied a play or a sonata, they approached it as if it was the very first time - with fresh eyes, a thirst for the truth and a burning desire to do justice to their art.
In addition to performing, Mr. Shure will share the music of his father and explore, with the group, the notion that "Great Art Knows No Boundaries."
This event is free and open to the public.
Call (212)689-0087 for reservations.
Location: The Stella Adler Studio, 31 W. 27th St., New York, NY
